We
believe strongly that in our outreach,
we must obey Christ to "love
our neighbor". As a church we believe that one of the best ways to be
obedient to Jesus Christ is to reach out to our neighbors in need.
Therefore we have intentionally chosen to host 7
Alcoholics Anonymous meetings a week, one Overeaters Anonymous
meeting a week, as well as occasionally hosting groups that deal with
other painful issues of life.
Free Clothing Ministry
We
have two major service ministries to the community that we do because
of the love of Christ. The first is to have the only clothing ministry
in Quincy that is free. We have clothes for all ages available in our
clothing room. If you have a need or know of someone that could benefit
from our free clothing ministry give us a call, (617-471-6806). Our goal
is to provide assistance with
dignity and love. We also ship clothing all over Eastern Massachusetts
and sometimes around the world.
The Ruth School (English
as a Second Language)
The
Ruth School for Learning English is a class open to internationals
seeking to learn English and get acclimated to the community. We have
three levels of classes, Beginners, Intermediates and Advanced taught
on Monday evenings at 7:00 p.m. and a conversation time on Thursday
evenings at 7:00 p.m.. (During the Summer our schedule may be
different.) There is a $30 fee for the book and class. There is also a
Bible study for internationals on Monday at 6:00 p.m. We have a fall
semester (Sept.-Dec.), a spring semester (Feb.-May) and a summer
semester (June-July). Our ESL coordinator is Karen Patchke and has
Friday office hours from 9am-12pm. Please call 617-471-6806 for
information or to register.
Alpha
Is
there more to life than this? Our
Alpha outreach, which meets twice a year (Fall and Spring) is intended
to meet the needs of those with faith questions or seeking a better
spiritual foundation in their lives. The course, introduced by a
welcome dinner, continues for 10 weeks on Wednesday evenings (and a one
day Saturday retreat). Each evening begins with dinner followed by a
video presentation and discussion of the video. Not only is everyone
welcome to attend but the evenings are designed to make those with
significant questions feel at home asking them. www.alphausa.org
Every Summer we participate with
other Evangelical churches in distributing bibles, literature and
letting other people know about Jesus.
Other Local Ministries
We also seek to
support local ministries and to refer people to help to the Quincy
Interfaith Shelter, the Interfaith Social Service Bureau, the Esther
Senger Center for Compassion, to name just a few.
Please Email
or call
the office at 617-471-6806
for more information about any of these ministries.
